Research and Development Unit for Languages in Education (RULE)

RULE is a research and development section operating at the School of Language, Translation and Literary Studies of the University of Tampere.

The research and development work of RULE focuses on the study of language(s) in and for education, i.e. on languages as subjects (cf. formal language education) and the use of languages in other subjects (cf. CLIL- and immersion education).

Furthermore, the key measures of the research work at RULE include exploration and development of the multimodality of today’s language teaching and acquisition, as well as innovative openings in language testing and assessment.

The operations of the unit are, by their nature, interdisciplinary and based on extensive international co-operation networks.
